Fargo Growth Plan 2024 has been formally adopted by the Fargo City Commission!

Visit the Project Documents page to review the completed plan that will shape where and how Fargo grows in the decades ahead.

A community-wide process

Development of the Fargo Growth Plan 2024 was informed and guided by the Fargo community through several methods of engagement, including:

Online Surveys

An online survey in June/July 2023, and another in October/November 2023, sought broad public feedback on important questions that shaped the growth plan and its decision-making framework.

To access a summary of feedback provided through the June/July 2023 survey, as well as the Preferred Growth Scenario that was shaped by the October/November 2023 survey,  visit Project Documents.

Open Houses

Open houses in June and October 2023 provided an opportunity for Fargoans to learn about the planning process and have in-depth conversations with project consultants and Fargo staff about issues important to them.

To access content from the June and October 2023 open houses, visit Project Documents.

Advisory Committee

An advisory committee of local stakeholders worked closely with project consultants and City staff to help identify key issues, interpret findings, and guide the planning process.

The committee met for the first time in March 2023 and reconvened every 6-8 weeks. A list of committee members can be downloaded here.

In addition to helping the City and its consultants identify key issues and interpret project findings, committee members also serve as important conduits to the community through the organizing of Kitchen Table Conversations with colleagues, neighbors, and friends.

Kitchen Table Conversations

Advisory committee members hosted Kitchen Table Conversations—small, facilitated discussions that aided the identification of important issues and how the community makes decisions about land development and growth.

Multiple rounds of Kitchen Table Conversations—each featuring a hypothetical situation or scenario as a basis for discussion—were held during the planning process. To download conversation materials, please visit Project Documents.
